In Australia and New Zealand there are 12 hospitals with emergency departments that are recognised as major paediatric emergency centres. There are also a number of other emergency departments that have a considerable caseload of paedaitric presentations.
These hospitals are centres of excellence in paediatric emergency care and are staffed by paediatric emergency specialists. They provide most of the education for Paediatric Emergency specialists in training for Australia and New Zealand, as well as offering opportunities for overseas trained individuals to undertake fellowships in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. They are also centres of research, with all 12 hospitals participating in PREDICT, the Paediatric Research in Emergency Departments International Collaborative.
Information about each centre can be found in their respective pages. |
